  • This church is extremely loving and welcoming of people from all different backgrounds and beliefs. In fact, they love everyone so much that they are willing to go out on a limb to actually teach the gospel in a loving manner. Christ loved us so much that he laid down his life for us but in order do accept his grace he does call everyone one of us to repentance. If you are willing to sacrifice your personal desires to obey God and help those around you then this is a place to start. If you want to be your own God you should still come and maybe this church will help you find God's true calling for your life.

Tod's lessons in particular are truly the best sermons I've heard in person. He delves deep into the text by giving you historical and cultural context. If the verse is difficult to understand, Tod will go into the original Hebrew and discuss etymology. If you want a high level, feel good, stereotypical Sunday morning lesson this is not the church for you. Tod will push you both spiritually and intellectually. These are the types of lessons people need in order to respond to a increasingly biblically ignorant society.

Full disclosure, I am not a member due the distance of this church from my home. I have attended enough times and watched enough of his sermons online that I felt convicted to write this review.

This church is great for finding Christian community, I love the women in my small group SO much❤️. I also love the PORCH and their mission. However, the church has a weird vibe...the volunteers are SUPER friendly when they first meet you but once they recognize you after seeing you a few times they will ignore you (not even a polite smile) AND that's the culture of the church. ITS WEIRD and very off-putting.

  • Just moved to Dallas, and found this church through some friends. The people who serve is really friendly and welcoming. The teachings are on point and theologically sound. The worship time is great and the building is beautiful. But most important of all, you can see the work of the Holy Spirit in his congregation. Jesus love is just present everywhere.

Racism. Minorities are not welcome here.

I frequented Watermark for roughly 18 months. Over this time I attended Sunday services, Tuesday night Porch, membership meetings, and various social events.

I started the journey because I was very much encouraged by Pastor Todd's mission and vision. Todd's delivery of God's Word was very passionate and compelling. I found his teachings to be rooted in truth and wisdom. Overtime, I also came to respect the teachings of several others. There is certainly a modicum of inspiring speaking pastors here.

In spite of the positive work done here, in my experience the church fell short on relationship and love. Over the 18 months I tried to link in I've barely connected with anyone. I attend services, and sat alone, sometimes 2x per week. I felt more lonely at church than watching the messages at home. Interaction was limited to a few forced handshakes at Todd's direction. I've attended grouplink twice, both times I left without any connection. I've even been intentionally skipped over. People were standoffish and didn't want me there. Prior to pursuing membership, I emailed Todd and asked to meet to talk about my story since he frequently discuses the importance of interacting with his sheep. However, a "rep" for Todd asked me to meet with someone else. I understand Todd's time is limited, but should not the church prioritize someone pursing discipleship under Watermarks tutelage? I don't believe my request was unreasonable.

There is a complete disconnect between Todd's teachings and the actual experience. Behind the beautiful facility, lively culture, and passionate teaching about the importance of "community" lies a cold, distant, show. People are polite, but self involved, ritualistic, and disinterested in anything beyond their religious cliques. Precisely what Todd has described as a "dead church" that disgusts him. This led me to question the very mission that brought me here. How can Watermark claim to share the love of God with nonbelievers when people who are actively seeking discipleship, love, and community are ignored and rejected? I see why people are so hostile towards the hypocratic church these days.

  • I came from a small church in the north and when we got to texas I was a bit overwhelmed but as we began to attend Watermark we realized it is smaller than we thought. We managed to get involved and thanks to all the great ministeries we feel so connected. So thankful God lead us here.
